Module 8 teaches passive and active stretching techniques which are to be used at the end of a massage session. Stretches “re-teach” muscle limits and assist in increasing an animal’s range of motion.
Module 9 describes massage plans in detail as well as “charting” - an important way to communicate with the owners of the animals and to recognise your own progress. They also act as a reminder of what works with a particular animal and can therefore be very helpful in subsequent sessions.
Module 10 provides basic first aid information and some common illnesses or diseases you may encounter when working with dogs. This information will help you recognise what is normal in the animal and when to consider if massage may pose a risk to animals with certain health conditions.
This final module, Module 11, introduces information regarding business practices and considerations. This module is provided and discussed during your final exam. Your success in this exciting new field is up to you. By understanding some of the difficulties and pit-falls others have encountered, you can avoid making the same mistakes and may even make major improvements!
