Module 1 begins by answering the question of why massage is appropriate for animals. You learn what physical and psychological benefits massage offers for animals and topics such as massage plans and when they should be used, which animals benefit the most from certain plans and how often an animal should receive a massage are also discussed.
This module also offers a very important lesson in self-discovery since it asks you to look into your own motivation for following this course and to examine your own commitment to animal massage as a career.
Module 2 teaches how to interact with your canine companions, how to better understand them and be able to communicate more fluently with them. Grooming guidelines, breeds, training methods and disciplines are also introduced.
Module 3 discusses the dog’s anatomy including bones, muscles and other features that make up the body. You also learn physical locators to aid in your massage work as well as some anatomical and directional vocabulary which allows better communication with veterinarians and other animal professionals. Knowledge of canine anatomy is deepened by exploring the individual muscles and their actions and learning which muscles work together to create fluid movements. An anatomy workbook and flashcards are included as part of this module.
