Our Self-Study programme is perfect for those who already have a strong background in human physical therapy or massage or other manual modalities. Students may start at any time and move through the Programme at their own pace. Up to two years is allowed for completion. The programme provides the necessary background needed to understand differences between human and animal anatomy while applying both new and familiar skills to help return correct function and mobility to the animal. Students may participate in the dedicated student forum during their studies but are not permitted to attend webinars. Homework is reviewed but not returned and the student is only contacted if significant errors are being made. The student sends an e-mail when they are ready to take their final exam. The exam is mailed to the student and is to be returned within 14 days. The student must also film his/herself providing a full massage session to an animal and send it to Woofs & Hoofs for evaluation. Upon satisfactory completion of these two steps, the student is awarded a certificate. The certificate indicates the type of learning as “Self-Study.” This form of study does not offer the opportunity to complete case studies and be added to our website for referrals. Interaction with the programme provider is limited, though we are always here to help if there are questions.
The Combined Learning programme is intended for people who can commit an average of 5-7 hours per week to their learning goals. A new series of courses begins each quarter and finishes in approximately one year. Like the Self-Study programme, modules are downloaded from our password-secured site, studying is completed at home, test are taken online and students can access the dedicated student forum during their studies to discuss their work with other students. However, that is where the similarities end. Unlike the Self-Study programme, students following the Combined Learning programme are permitted to participate in informative webinars where additional information not presented in the programme modules is provided and discussed interactively. Regularly scheduled webinars align with the modules currently being studied to provide a more holistic view of the information and encourage progress through the programme. Homework from students following this form of study is reviewed and detailed corrections are provided on the returned papers or through e-mail. The final review and exam are provided on-site in Belgium during one 5-day week or 2 consecutive weekends. This allows for more individualised student assessment and fine-tuning of the information and techniques learned throughout the course. After finishing the programme successfully and receiving the “Combined Learning” certificate, students are encouraged to complete 10 case studies to further deepen their learning and enhance their practice. The case studies are reviewed in detail and comments regarding their content are offered to the student. When all case studies have been submit and reviewed, the student’s details and credentials are added to the Woofs & Hoofs website and referrals in their geographical area are forwarded to them. To ensure sufficient individualised attention during the final review and exam, participation in each series of the Combined Learning programme is limited to 8 participants.
If you want to learn animal massage quickly and thoroughly, then our Intensive Programme may be just what you are looking for. During a series of 3 jam-packed four day – very hands-on – sessions over three months, you learn everything you need to know to start your own business as an animal massage therapist. Programme modules based on the on-site training presentations are provided at the start of each session. These act as the student study texts while completing the homework and online tests between sessions. Students have full access to the student forum and webinars for one full year. Detailed homework corrections are provided and may be discussed during the following session if desired. Students can expect to already start handling animals from the second day of the first session. Two case studies are completed during the third session and the student’s details are added to the site immediately after successful completion of the final exam and awarding of the “Intensive Programme” certificate. Due to the level of personal attention and commitment required for this programme, participation is limited to 6 students per series.
Modules for the Self-Study programme may be purchased individually from our website. For the Combined Learning and Intensive Programme, payment may be made through our website using PayPal or a series of direct bank transfers or automatic withdrawals.
